Mi Casa Verde Vera 2 Home Controller
Vera is a powerful, flexible, multi-purpose controller with an intuitive interface for managing home and small business security systems, energy consumption, home theater equipment and many household electronics from the convenience of a Smartphone or computer.
With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.

PERFECT Solution!!!
I have seen so many up and down reviews for the Mi Casa Verde VERA2 controller that I was on the fence on whether or not I should buy one. The only other options for this kind of control are either relatively expensive or require a PC on at all times. This controller and system are VERY simple once you get them setup. I must admit that the directions were slightly incorrect. When you are FIRST programming your Zwave lights/sensors/etc, make sure that they are NOT included in any other network! Meaning, you will have to remove them from existing remotes/controllers FIRST. Then you can plug the battery operated Vera2 in and run around your house adding your devices. This was the tricky part for me... Vera2 instructions said that the Zwave light should turn on after 60 seconds of being plugged into the battery. The reality is, it took closer to 5 minutes. Then, once all devices are added you are to press the Zwave button and plug Vera2 into your router. After doing so and...

Not perfect, but...
Vera2 isn't perfect, but is the best value among Z-wave controllers. You can get better controllers, but they either cost 4-6 times as much or they require a PC to be on at all times...and we all know how reliable that would be. I've found that rebooting Vera every few months keeps her working well.

Setup is not a snap, but with persistence you can get Vera working. In this case, Einstein's definition of insanity must be set aside, as doing the same thing over and over CAN produce a different result where Vera is concerned. So far I have survived one update of the firmware, which did not seem to make much improvement in anything I use Vera for, but totally wiped out all of the scenes I had set up for my thermostat and lights, not to mention totally deleting my IP cameras. It took about a day to untangle that mess. Further, the update made it impossible to delete a camera that was set up using a plug-in without deleting ALL the cameras created using that plug-in. How does...
Woefully unimpressed
I got this Vera2 box in an attempt to add a bit more advanced events, control, and timing to my Z-wave network. I'd been looking at a Vera2 or HomeSeer, trying to decide which would be the better option. Comparing the two of them, a few things jumped out at me off the bat.

1) Vera's interface is accessible from either a Mac or a PC, whereas HomeSeer ONLY runs on a PC. This is a big point in Vera's favour. Unfortunately, the interface itself is buggy, slow, and has a poorly thought-out UI. Cryptic buttons abound, and documentation is non-existent.

2) HomeSeer has a very spartan interface, but it's quick and painless to set up. The interface is intuitive and logical, and extensible with plugins to allow things like a graphical representation of one's home instead of just a text list of devices and conditions. Vera, on the other hand, has a glitzy interface, but setting it up is a bit like pulling teeth. Of the five primary controllers I've used (GE 45601 advanced...
