Cheaply made
Received two of these remotes with my Genie Excelerator garage door opener purchased from Home Depot. The remotes range is very short and the plastic clip holder does not hold the remote any longer - falls out. Very cheaply made and is disappointing since it would have been so easy to design this right to begin with. Makes you wonder if Genie put a similar lack of integrity into the opener itself.

Genie GIT-3 Intellicode garage door opener
In just a couple of minutes this thing works like a champ. Just push the 'learn' button on the power head of your opener, then push the button on the transmitter you want to associate with the door to be opend, and viola, the door opens. Before I ordered, I called Genie's customer service folks to make sure what transmitter I needed, they were great. Genie makes great products.
Not what I ordered
I specifically ordered the 3BL model, because that's what I've been using for 15 years with no problems. But they sent me the G2T model, which takes a different battery and barely works at all. You have to press the button ten times, whack the thing a few times and then press it ten times more and hopefully the door will open. What a ripoff.

3 years living with Genie Wireless keypad
I've purchased the wireless keypad about 3 years ago when I had my Genie belt driven door opener installed. I live in Albuquerque, NM, and the weather never seems to get to extreme in the winters or summers (very little rain also). My house also faces south with direct sunlight on the wireless keypad 90% of the time.

This keypad has performed flawlessly since the installation. The color of the remote looks a little faded and my daughter broke the front cover off about 2 years ago; but, this unit has never failed to perform as advertised. The numbers of the buttons don't look worn and the keypad's backlighting still works. I usually change the 9v battery once a year and the keypad maintains its programming during the exchange. My only gripe would be the cover breaking so easily and you have to replace the whole unit (the plastic on top of keypad broke and you cannot connect the cover to it).

Having this keypad outside the garage is a must have when you have...
Not very durable
The unit installs and works well, but it doesn't seem to be very durable. The front cover easily becomes disconnected at the hinge during normal operation. The unit worked well for about a year, but it now completely fails to operate the door.

The only way to control the new Genie opener from two wall locatiuons
In the old days, all you needed was a simple doorbell button, or momentary contact switch to operate the garage door opener from wall locations. With the new series of Genie garage door opener, you MUST use these wall consoles, and only these wall consoles, so Genie provides one with the opener I purchased..

This extra console was needed so I could manually open the garage door from the door between the garage and the house, as well as have the option to operate it from the car entry door area.

Installation was simple because there are only two wires to connect, and the instructions provided by Genie, tho minimal, were pretty easy to follow.

The console offers the options to control the door manually, plus allows you to turn on the opener light manually, and there is also a button to lock the garage door by disabling remote operation.

Tho the console costs more than a simple doorbell button, it wasn't excessive, and I'm glad I got it.

Not a universal product as advertized.
Product is not a universal fit for most standard garage door locking mechanism's. There are no screw holes to attach it to the interior portion of the lock. This is not stated anywhere in it's documentation. Very misleading and cost me additional money at a local hardware retailer. Very dissapointed this time.

Simple to install
Arrived quick and was easy to install. Install took about a minute. Make sure you have the wires on correctly, you'll know if you do when the red internal light turns on.

Works as Described
I purchased this Genie Wall Console as a replacement for the existing unit in my garage, which was only locking intermittently. It was simple to install in the exact same location as the old one and worked perfectly from the first click until now. I've had it about 5 months without any problem at all. very sensitive sensors
I purchased a set of these garage door sensors to replace the original ones that were acting up. Well long story short, I ended up having to call out a garage door person to get them to work properly. The problem was in the alignment of the sensors. Even when I had the garage door people out, it took them awhile to get them to work properly. The problem ended up being that the field of the beam was too broad, so every time we hit the button to close the door, the door would close fine until it passed the area where the sensors were, and then it would fault out and return the door back up. We checked everything and NOTHING was in the way of the beam. The service tech finally had to bend out the receiving sensor to face more into the garage to keep the sensor from faulting out when the door would pass by that area. So, I ended up paying the door company a $55.00 service call just to bent out the bracket so they would work properly. So if you run into this issue, just angle the...

Perfect Replacement

A few issues, but otherwise does what it is suppose to.
Following the instructions, the set up of the following device was quick and easy with very little problem. It works as it claims it does, allowing you to use a code in order to open your garage, thus allowing you to keep a garage door opener outside, which is very useful for someone like me, with a detached garage.

This device lights up when any button is hit, thus allowing you to see it in the dark. The buttons are quite large, and the device is actually larger than the last one I owned, which is a good thing in this case, as you don't have to worry about button slippage as much when you have gloves on in the cold.

The reason it has a 4 star and not a 5 is because of two problems. First off, even when typing the code in correctly, it doesn't always work. Sometimes I need to retype the entire code, sometimes, just the open button, but for whatever reason, buttons occasionally do not register and you have to type the code in 2-3 times. My old one did this too, so...

Worth the money
This remote control is very handy and is well worth the $30+. It is easy to set up (takes about 15 min. to attach to wall and program). Thing to watch out for is it stays activated for 30 sec after password is entered so you don't want to leave the garage area too soon lest someone may open your door without the password.
Excellent Product
Easy to program, easy to install, easy to use. We have not found that the cover falls off with use when properly attached contrary to another review. I installed this on my own while my husband was out of town. With four drivers in our household now, this product is perfect. Everyone can enter through the garage with the push of a few buttons. Our ten year old now enters and exits the house this way to play, keeping cool air and bugs out of the house and maintaining the security of our garage and home.

Secrets of garage door openers revealed (read to end)...
I like these. I have had trouble with wireless openers being finicky and not working all the time. This entry system is wired directly to the garage door opener (I wired mine to the push button instead of running a wire all the way to the opener), so it works all the time without any radio signals that usually work but sometime do not. Also, it works just like a push button and is wired in the same way, so it will work with every garage door opener that I know of.

I have used two of these for about 15 years (on two different doors). Every once in a while the keypad goes bad. Actually, usually only one of the numbers goes bad simply because you have been using the same numbers for so long that eventually one of them quits working, so all you have to do is reprogram the system and don't use that number.

An easy way to check if your keypad is bad is to reprogram the thing using different, various numbers. If that works, you are set for a few more years in most...

Two units failed within 14 months
A unit purchased May 2005 quit working 9 months later. A replacement installed at that time quit working 14 months later. The control unit was inside the garage, protected from weather. I recommend looking elsewhere for a keyless garage door opener.
Quits Working after about 7 months
I really like the convenience of using a keypad that doesn't use batteries to open my garage door, but I've had to replace this unit twice in the past year. The control box is mounted indoors and has never been wet, and I can't see that the keypad is damaged in any way.

This Is What I Needed.
The house I lived in for a few years had sinlge push-button garage door opener. When I needed extra light in the garage; there was no way to turn on the garage door light & have it stay on. I wasn't that worried about it until I stumbled upon this unit, here.

Now, I have the ability to flip on the garage door light without opening the garage (the light only stayed for 5 minutes). So, YES, I like being able to turn the light on, seperatly. The buttons are illuminated in red. Plus, you can lock/unlock the buttons (stops the kids from playing with the buttons). Installation was simple - took like 2 minutes. Honestly, this is most likely a one-time purchase for me because I can't see it breaking or malfunctioning any time, soon. All in all, I'm happy.

Genie garage door opener
The wall opener that came with my garage door opener was this exact model. The original one broke. The push button to open the door stopped working. I purchased a new one on amazon and I am glad I did. I like the fact that you can turn on the garage door opener's light without having to open the door. The vacation lock is great. No one can open the door from inside or outside when the lock is in the on position. Both buttons light up. Easy install. Because of the light function and the vacation function, I highly recommend this part. The part arrived before the due date.
